oil on panel, 8"x8"
Available for reservations.
Jose and I purchased this small little elephant glass statue during our trip to Cape Town.
This little ellie is tiiiiny, maybe 2"x2"? She (we totally personify everything) is paired with a mini rhino glass statue, bought at the same stand. During our safari a week prior, I really fell in love with the playful ellies and Jose adored the strong and powerful rhinos.
(Before we left Kruger, we both purchased bracelets with our animals on them, each of them benefiting the animals' safety and future in the savannah. We like to say they are our friendship bracelets, because neither of us has taken them off since we returned, a year now.)
When he saw the glass figurines sitting on the shelf of the stand in an art expo in Cape Town, he turned into a kid in a candy shop. He pleaded to me if we could purchase them. At first I was like "where the heck will they fit in our tiiiiny apartment?" He made the case that the figurines were tiiiiny too, so they could find their place somewhere. So, I gave in, and we bought the cuties.
They now sit on our TV stand, on a sliced geode we purchased during our trip to Pescadero the weekend after we got engaged. I look at them every single day, and they immediately bring a smile to my face. I think about our adventures, that specific trip and other trips that brought us so close together. I think of my adventure buddy, Jose, and how he's always down to go to the ends of the earth with me (literally, we rented a car in Cape Town and traveled to the most southwestern point of Africa to see the wild African penguins).
Seeing these little guys really reminds me of how much I love Jose. As we get closer to our wedding date, I really start to get sappy and pretty emotional (cue yesterday's post), mostly because I am so unbelievably excited, a little nervous, and super happy to spend the rest of my life adventuring with my best friend. How did I find the perfect puzzle piece? Life's mysteries; that's what I have to say to that.
Oh my gosh. I get to marry my adventure buddy in 11 days. Cheers to a lifetime of beautiful adventure with Mr. Jose Valdez!
