You guys! I found my Something Blue!
Well, Johann, my cousin/best friend/brother/Jose's twin, found me my Something Blue about 2 months ago in San Pancho, Mexico. And it's perfect.
In August this year, 12 of my girlfriends (including Johann!) headed over to San Pancho, Mexico for 3 days of bachelorette bliss. It was the perfect weekend, filled with a set dinner on the sand with our private band, home-cooked meals at the casa, time in the pool with "Pepe" (ask one of the girls on the trip what I'm referring to), the ocean water that felt like I was swimming in a bathtub, a night out in Sayulita on a bachelorette scavenger hunt, and soooo many cuddles with my loves. Not only was it perfect because of this, but also because it was 90F and humid, the town lost power the first night we arrived and we ended up having a massive sleepover in the only room that had AC, mosquitos loved us morning and night, and I ended up having Montezuma's Revenge the last day of the trip.
Many would read that last sentence as, "oh my gosh, are you nuts?! That sounds like the worst trip in the history of trips." But I read it as, "I'm in Mexico with people I love. What more do I need?"
The Sunday I caught Montezuma's Revenge and was hurdled over a toilet (and apparently some of the other girls caught the same thing that night or later that week), I insisted that everyone still go visit Sayulita and San Pancho without me. That is when Johann purchased my Something Blue, a ring that fits my right ring finger perfectly, jeweled with a blue stone from the Nayarit region of Mexico.
Johann literally thinks of it all and remembers everything I mention to him: he bought me a mini "bride" sombrero to wear during the weekend, he brought "Pepe" to hang out with us (again, ask them what Pepe is all about), he supplied my drinks and bachelorette wine glass for the weekend, and he remembered that I said I still needed Something Blue to wear on the wedding. Johann is so special, and he makes the littlest of details just happen. He's a special one.
I'll be rocking the rock (pun intended) the day of my wedding to Jose. And every time I wear it during my engagement (I wear it nearly everyday), I think of Johann and how special he is to Jose and I.
If you're reading this Joe Joe (and I sent you the link to this post, so I hope you are!): we love you so much! We are so honored that you are a part of our special day and will bear as a witness to our marriage. Oh, and your navy suit for the wedding looks ah-maz-ing on you.
