Chicago based fine artist & illustrator Brittney Valdez has been honing her skills in painting and illustration for the past several years. She blends her visual art skills with her many years of dance experience, love of travel, and her diverse cultural background, bringing about a perfect marriage of her passions in her work.
Brittney’s painting and illustration work has allowed her to explore and deeply observe elements of the psychology of the sense of self, her current subject of focus. Her use of fabric, oil paint, acrylic paint, ink and watercolor paint allows her to tell a story about our relentless strength and beauty, our relationship with each other and ourselves, all while challenging what viewers admire about the wealth of features of the delicately strong human body through composition, color, and texture.
You can find her inventing a new dish in the kitchen, in a dance studio, or laying on the floor listening to one of her abuelo's records. She is working towards a Masters in Art Therapy & counseling.
